Infertility tourism: gender selection in Thailand

Following their dreams of conceiving a boy some parents are ...

Following their dreams of conceiving a boy some parents are going abroad for gender selection, choosing to undergo a PGD procedure in foreign infertility clinics. For those living in Europe, North Cypress with their relaxed (comparing to UK - where gender selection is illegal) laws, and a government recognized clinic in Dogus boasting high success rates proved popular. What about "infertility tourism" for "family balancing" purposes elsewhere? Thailand is one of those countries that are allowing infertility procedures to be used in order to conceive a certain gender. There's a US based company in Thailand, called Thailand surrogacy, performing family balancing in Bangkok. Thailand surrogacy offers ethical surrogacy, egg donation, gender selection, Cryopreservation, PGD, IVF and ICSI. They work with high skilled doctors specializing in fertility treatment, educated in Europe, US and Australia, and often renowned worldwide for their expertize in the field of fertility. They work with only internationally accredited fertility hospitals and clinics in Thailand, using the latest state-of-the-art technology. The infertility clinic based in Bangkok is willing to assist intended parents living in a country that banned gender selection (on their website, they are mentioning India and some US states); thanking to the fact that gender selection is legal in Thailand, and their fertility specialists equipped with the latest assisted reproduction technologies, "know how to make a boy or a girl for their patients".Thailand is a world leader in medical tourism, receiving over 1.6 million medical tourists in 2011. Their infertility clinics are among the best in the world. Will the "Land of Smiles" bring a smile on your face even after you leave gentle, hospital Thai people, golden temples, and long, sandy beaches? For couples looking for infertility treatment services, Thailand hospitals and clinics can offer not only huge savings (50-60 % compared to US), but the level of service whose quality and sophistication is unmatched elsewhere. Other benefits Thailand can offer for those considering the option of "infertility tourism" include: country's developed infrastructure, skilled doctors, board certified and often foreign educated, internationally accredited hospitals with high ethical standards. In the end, just an interesting fact: for some reason not currently recognized, women who conceived their babies with the help of fertility treatments in infertility clinics gave birth to a boy baby at a rate higher than average. But for those not leaving it to a chance to get their baby boy, "infertility tourism" and foreign clinics offering gender selection abroad, be it in North Cypress or Thailand, look like a promising undertaking.

Microsort sperm sorting for gender selection

Talking about scientific gender selection methods, we mentioned a sperm ...

Talking about scientific gender selection methods, we mentioned a sperm sorting technique which is currently rising in popularity, named MicroSort. MicroSort is a brand name for flow cytometry sperm sorting method for baby gender selection. MicroSort is used for prevention of genetic disease and for family balancing. It is a pre conception method ie. the sperm is manipulated before conception. The male sperm determines the gender of the baby, male or female. Under normal circumstances, the sperm will have an equal number of boy making sperm and girl making sperm. MicroSort gender selection technique takes advantage of the actual differences between boy and girl sperm. MicroSort uses a patented process to separate the boy sperm from the girl sperm based on a difference in DNA mass between the boy sperm and girl sperm. Sperm put in the MicroSort machine, that has 50/50 female/male ratio, coming on the other side - if it is intended for a boy conception - would be 80% boy. That would give you a four times higher chance of conceiving a boy. (The procedure is less precise and successful when trying for a boy.) The sperm that is run through the MicroSort machine can then be used for in vitro fertilization, or artificial insemination with or without fertilization drugs. You can read about MicroSort and other gender selection methods on many places on this blog. For a low tech solution, you can try to boost sperm that makes boys with this advice for men.

    Ericsson baby gender selection method

Continuing with medical baby gender selection methods for family balancing, ...

Continuing with medical baby gender selection methods for family balancing, after presenting popular sperm sorting method MicroSort, we ought to detail the Ericsson method. The Ericsson method, developed and patented by Dr. Ronald Ericsson in the mid 1970s is one of the sperm sorting methods of gender selection. Dr. Ericsson maintains that it is up to 85 percent effective: 78% to 85% for boys and 73% to 75% for girls - but some experts (as with almost any other gender selection method) question the effectiveness of the method. There are studies that have found the method more likely to succeed when creating X sperm enriched samples, citing a 71 percent success rate. The Ericsson method is based on the belief that there are important differences between X-carrying sperm and Y-carrying sperm. To see the differences between the sperm that makes girls and the sperm that makes boys, as always, I'd point you to this fundamental post. Ericsson method is centered on the difference in speed between the two: because X sperm carries more genetic material, it tends to move slower than the boy producing sperm. The Ericsson gender selection procedure is done at a licensed Ericsson clinic, on the day that the woman is expected to ovulate, and it all takes about four hours. Man's sperm sample is processed for gender selection, and than used to inseminate the mother either by IUI (intra-uterine insemination) or ICI (intra-cervical insemination). The technique works by placing the sperm sample in a test tube atop of increasingly thicker layers of albumin, and letting the sperm swim down into the solution. After a certain time period has elapsed, the sperm can be separated into the faster and slower swimmers. If the couple desires a boy baby the faster swimmers are then artificially inseminated. Sperm preparation with albumin is a standard time-tested procedure before IUI or IVF, so the procedure can be deemed safe. The cost of the procedure is from $600 to $1,200 per attempt (also note that most couples won't get pregnant on a first try so multiple attempts are required). Because of the licensing fee clinics must pay to use the procedure, this is the pricier sperm sorting gender selection method. Still a cheaper option than MicroSort, and more widely available - even in countries that legally limit gender selection such as Great Britain and India. There is an on-line community of women who have used this gender selection method and refer to themselves as the Ericsson ladies, so you'd be wise to google them if you're interested in this method. Company which offers gender selection using the Ericsson albumin method (22+X/Y as they themselves refer to it) is called Gametrics Limited. They have many domestic (Modesto, San Francisco and Walnut Creek in California; Wellington and West Palm Beach in Florida; Mineola and New York City in New York; Lewiston, Maine; Livonia, Michigan; South Plainfield, New Jersey) and international centers (Lagos, Nigeria; Islamabad and Lahore, Pakistan; Panama City, Panama; Cairo, Egypt; and Colombia) licensed to offer the Ericsson albumin method of sperm sorting for gender selection.

The next baby in this ultrasound video confused the parents at 16 weeks and 3 days:) Her legs were crossed mostly - or she was busy "dancing". Boy or girl?

Moon influence on conception and baby gender

From ancient times, the Moon, a satellite of our planet ...

From ancient times, the Moon, a satellite of our planet Earth, has been seen as a powerful - and mystical - force that governs the natural cycles and affect us all. Its influence on cycles of ebb and flow are easily observable, but the Moon has allegedly been involved in many more esoteric doings. The old myth that the full moon makes us do unusual, scary things like turn people into werewolves or cause the bouts of madness (the word lunacy comes from the Latin word Luna = moon) in well known in many cultures. It is not wise, believed ancients, to get surgery on full moon because its gravitational pull on blood can increase bleeding. The day of the week dedicated to the Moon is the dreaded Monday, a day dedicated to the raising spirits of the dead. No wonder many feel the Monday blues!:) But not all lunar influences are bad. Moon regulates women's menstrual cycles, and therefore fertility and getting pregnant. It is a solid fact that more births occur when the Moon is full. In the old times, it was believed that the Moon is a triple-faced goddess that gets pregnant and gives birth to the new Moon. Greek goddess associated with the Moon was the patron of all feminine. Among other powers, she was able to ease childbirth and inspire love. Maybe that's why some old wives' advice to make love under the quarter moon if you'd like to get pregnant with a boy baby. The old craft of astrology took the investigation of Moon's whereabouts on our skies very seriously. The old astrologers advised those who wanted male offspring to conceive when the Moon is in male signs. In recent times, a Slovak doctor, Eugene Jonas used the old wisdom of Lunar cycles for treating infertility, connecting it with what we know today about ovulation. He also believed that the gender of the baby depends on whether the Moon was located in a male or female sign in the mother's astrological birthchart. Please see this article for a more in-depth look on what we know about the connection between moon phases and gender selection. I trust you know how the babies are made, and who's "responsible" for a little boy or a little girl baby nine months later!:) We know that the man provides two types of sperm, that decides which gender the resulting baby will turn to be, and woman provides the environment that favors one or the other type of sperm. Cycles of the Moon do have an affect on Earth's magnetic fields. Electromagnetic charges resulting from this may in turn affect the separation and predominance of X and Y sperms - thus the gender of the baby may be the result of conception during the particular Moon phase. Women's reproductive tract can be of varying pH levels, either more acid or alkali - and that can influence which sperm is to survive and thrive during the race to fertilize the egg. Guess what, some think that the celestial movements of the Moon through the signs of the zodiac alter that acidity or alkalinity balance.

How to conceive a boy naturally

Is there a way to naturally conceive a baby boy? ...

Is there a way to naturally conceive a baby boy? If you've ever given thought to conceiving a boy, the first idea that occurred to you probably have been something in the lines of natural gender selection methods. Last few posts on how to conceive a boy blog were dedicated largely to scientific gender selection methods performed by medical professionals in fertility clinics in an effort to aid the families in a need of family balancing. The science of gender selection is rapidly progressing, that's for sure, although it tends to stay out of reach for many because of its extravagant cost (compare the costs in dollars for PGD, MicroSort or Ericsson gender selection methods) and general invasiveness. When the parents having gender preferences are faced with all that's involved in making their dreams come true in the environment of fertility clinic, many will simply give up. Luckily, there are natural methods to conceive a boy that are both simpler and easier (while not coming with any guarantees - but also not with a huge price tag). Some of the natural ways to conceive a boy can be written off as old wives' tales with their amusing but dubious ways to conceive a boy. Same probably goes for Chinese gender calendar or, some may say, astrology. But there are some natural methods that stood the test of time. Shettles method of gender selection is based on the differences between sperm that makes girls, and sperm that makes boys. Schedule the timing of intercourse to give boy making sperm a boost. Give preference to some sex positions to conceive a boy. And finally, try to lower the acidity of your reproductive tract because the pH level of your vagina impacts conception of a boy or a girl. Follow a diet to conceive a boy. Shettles method for a boy is fully explained in a recently updated and revised book How To Choose The Sex Of Your Baby - see the Shettles method review. You will need an ovulation kit. Who knows, maybe that's more than enough for a blue nursery and a sports buddy for your husband!

    Moon phase gender prediction

How to conceive a boy already touched on astrological methods ...

How to conceive a boy already touched on astrological methods to conceive a boy baby some time ago. It may be true that the phase in which the Moon was when the baby is conceived influences baby's gender! It all depends on the nature of the sign in which the Moon was at the moment of conception: was it male of female? The baby will be a boy if conceived when the Moon is in a male sign during your personal Moon phase return. Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius are considered as male signs. Some claim that combining this gender prediction astrological knowledge with lunar cycle fertility techniques you can predict baby gender with 70% accuracy! Why this technique doesn't work 100%? There's a caveat to this gender prediction that consists of not knowing when the conception actually took place. Male partner's sperm may live for up to 60-70 hours, and it may take varying time to travel to the woman's egg. We can't tell when exactly insemination occurred! Let's say you want to conceive a boy. You have intercourse with your partner when the Moon is in the last degrees of the Aries (male sign!) but conception may happen when the Moon is already in the next sign, which is the female sign of Taurus. To get around this it is best to have intercourse 12-24 hours before the recommended date to conceive a boy. That's why this gender prediction technique is - although useful - not right all the time. But then, few are anyway! These Moon phase and gender prediction techniques are used with a high rate of success by Francesca Naish in Australia and E.R. Schweighart at his Clinic Astra International in Vienna, Austria. At the Bratislava clinic of Gynecology they tested it with a success rate of 98%, based on 8000 women who wanted a boy baby only. You may notice that this astrological notion of Lunar fertility cycles doesn't correspond well with conventional scientifically endorsed women's fertility cycle that is exclusively menstrual. If we have only one fertility cycle, it means we have only one ovulation window and only one chance a month to get pregnant.  Lunar phase fertility cycle on the contrary asserts that we have multiple fertile windows in any given month. Any scientific proof to support such unconventional claims? In 2003, a Canadian research team from the University of Saskatchewan found evidence that suggests that astrology is maybe really onto something. In response to hormone surges, women experience two to three periods of follicular development each month, though only one egg is selected for ovulation, they discovered. That basically corresponds with the astrological notions of Lunar fertility cycles. Or, at least strongly suggests that woman can get pregnant on any time of month, no matter where she is in her ovulatory cycle. In other words, ovulation may occur spontaneously ("intercourse accelerating ovulation").

    Red cabbage gender prediction test

To predict your baby gender with red cabbage gender test ...

To predict your baby gender with red cabbage gender test you will need, obviously - red cabbage, and your first morning urine. Don't forget some adequate containers for all the "ingredients". Here are the step-by-step instructions: Chop some red cabbage, put it in a pot and boil for 10 minutes. Some boil the water with the cabbage, others only mix previously boiled water with cabbage letting it set for 10 minutes - doesn't matter which way you choose: the important thing is to get the cabbage red color out. Separate the cabbage from the water, because you'll only need the colored water for the gender test. Mix equal parts of cabbage water with your early morning urine. Look carefully for the change in color. If it turns reddish-pink, it's a boy. If it turns bluish-purple, it's a girl.  This is what it will look like for a boy result: Red cabbage gender test can be done till 10 weeks of pregnancy. I've seen a ton of red cabbage prediction videos, and they were overwhelmingly - correct in their prediction of a baby's gender. Can this be explained logically? Well, red cabbage is here used as a simple done-at-home Ph tester. If it's a boy, there's more acid in your urine - which will in turn change the color of the cabbage water when mixed together.
