Fred Frees Favorites: Sons of Harpo & Groucho Speak

Host Fred Frees presents an hour of audio delights from ...

Host Fred Frees presents an hour of audio delights from the Bear Manor and Waterlogg catalogs, plus some rarities of all kinds. This time, part 1 Son of Harpo Speaks, written and read by Bill Marx, and a rare interview with Arthur Marx, from 1972. The book is available at bearmanormedia.com. The audiobook is available at http://www.waterlogg.com. Son of Harpo Speaks! A Family Portrait Length: 8.7 hours CD Set or Download Bill Marx is the last living person to have worked professionally with the three Marx Brothers: his uncles, Chico and Groucho, and his father, Harpo Marx. Because Chico and Groucho had children that had written about them, Bill Marx wanted to complete the Marx Brothers’ literary trifecta by authoring a book about the personal and professional relationships that he had with his father. Son of Harpo Speaks!, in addition to offering a unique perspective of a very special man and revealing many stories never before in print, is also a book about a “too-Hollywood-to-believe” life-altering quirk of fate that ultimately brought him together with his parents. The background for this remarkable revelation unfolded unassumingly over a glass of wine and some conversation in the famous 1960s nightclub, Dino’s Lodge, on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. It would subsequently lead the author to explore the complex life task of dealing with his emotional scars of rejection and the secure feelings of acceptance, the latter due to his overwhelmingly good fortune of having been adopted by two loving parents. Plenty of “show-biz” and “sizzle” are also sprinkled throughout to make for a very enjoyable read.   Waterlogg Documentary PackLength: 9 hours 7 CD Set or Download From award-winning NPR producer Joe Bevilacqua comes a rare and exciting collection of radio documentaries, features, and dramas. One Song at a TimeThis radio performance includes many stories about the Kerrville Folk Festival, the longest continuously running music festival in North America. The weekly radio anthology hour presents a different aspect of the diverse audio career of Joe Bevilacqua (Joe Bev). The Kerrville Folk Festival ran from May 22 to June 8, 2014. Joe Bev and his wife Lorie Kellogg camped out at the festival for five days in 1999 to created this program. Over 1500 outstanding singer-songwriters have been presented on the Festival’s stages since the beginning. More than just a “folk music” festival, Kerrville offers music of many styles including traditional folk, bluegrass, acoustic rock, blues, country, jazz, and Americana. The common thread is songwriting. Through the years, the Kerrville stage has seen other nationally known artists like Peter Paul & Mary, Judy Collins, Janis Ian and Arlo Guthrie, while others such as singer/songwriter/actor Ronny Cox play on our stages any given year.   One Song at a Time,: Tales from the Kerville Music festival is included in our Documentary Pack: Waterlogg Documentary PackLength: 9 hours 7 CD Set or Download From award-winning NPR producer Joe Bevilacqua comes a rare and exciting collection of radio documentaries, features, and dramas. Joe Bev Travels Through Time and Space

Can two retired, old-time radio actors find work for 300 ...

Can two retired, old-time radio actors find work for 300 billion illegal aliens? Michael Sheard (Star Wars, Dr. Who) and David Ossman (Firesign Theatre) join forces to show just how much fun answering that question can be in Peter Galaxy: Intersteller Envoy. Also, on the hour will be part 1 of The Whithering of Willoughby and the Professor, Episode 14: ''I Do Not Like the Blackness of Her Nose'' or ''The Penguins Laugh at You!” written by Joe Bevilacqua and Robert J. Cirasa, produced, directed and voiced by Bevilacqua. In addition, ''Napoleon Brandy,'' part 2, will be read by Fred Frees, one of the six stories from his audiobook ''Dracula Meets Jack The Ripper'' (written by Michael B. Druxman), available at Amazon. It was posted on Facebook by Brian K. Brice of Great Northern Audio:  ''One of the cool things about this spoof on old time radio adventure serials is that we were able to pair David Ossman of the Firesign Theatre with Michael Sheard, probably best known for playing the ''you have failed me for the last time'' Admiral Ozzel in Star Wars as well as working in a ton of Doctor Whos. Originally trained in Shakespeare, Michael said he hadn't performed on stage in 20 years and had a wonderful time. You can hear it in his voice. Also, starring Tick Wick, Windy Bowlsby, Irene Ruderman Clark, and Preston Ossman. Joseph Bevilacqua's website (http://www.joebev.com/) is entertaining, informative and goofy–a wonderful mix and just the kind of place to hear SOLID STATE UNIVERSITY – hope you have time to visit. And listen in for other Great Northern Audio works in the coming months.''David Ossman has spent over 40 years performing, writing, and directing for the audio medium.  Best known as a founding member of the “legendary” Firesign Theatre comedy radio and recording quartet, Ossman has also written and produced major broadcast series and important individual programs for American Public Radio, National Public Radio, the BBC, XM Satellite Radio, WETA (Washington DC), WGBH Radio (Boston) and Pacifica Radio; plus countless individual programs, comedy and advertising spots, guest appearances, performances and interviews heard on every medium from 45rpm singles to DVDs and from AM and FM to webcasts and blogs. With his wife, Judith Walcutt, Ossman has co-produced a distinguished series of audio plays, including THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ, an all-star centennial audio production for the Children’s Museum of Los Angeles and winner of the Parents Choice Award.  Ossman’s and Walcutt’s up-dated THE WAR OF THE WORLDS 50TH ANNIVERSARY PRODUCTION starring Jason Robards, Steve Allen, Douglas Edwards, Scott Simon and Terry Gross was nominated for a Grammy in 1988.   LIKE THIS?
