Add FeedFor more than 30 years the American Theatre Wing has been bringing together performers, directors, playwrights, designers, choreographers, producers and behind-the-scenes personnel from the American and international theatre, the seminars offer a rare opportunity for students and audiences to see the people who create theatre engaged in thoughtful conversation with one another. With more than 600 past guests, the seminars have become an unequalled archive of theatrical talk, a chance to hear from the people behind the characters, stories and productions that draw us to the theatre. Experiences on stage in America and England are the core of this conversation with actors Eileen Atkins ("Doubt"), Richard Griffiths ("The History Boys"), Jonathan Pryce ("Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"), Lynn Redgrave ("The Importance of Being Earnest") and Zoë Wanamaker ("Awake and Sing").

The prison population was growing rapidly, as were the costs to taxpayers. Thousands of prisoners were returning to their communities on parole after completing their sentences - with unacceptable and sometimes dangerous results: nearly half were back in prison within two years. Today, the Michigan Prisoner ReEntry Initiative is transforming corrections practices and policies. Join us to learn more about this important topic for community discussion and involvement. A panel of returning citizens will speak about their experiences transitioning back into the community alongside MPRI professionals who will discuss the initiative and its many benefits. Among the panelists for this evening presentation will be Mary King, MPRI Community Coordinator for Washtenaw County.

The present day excavation of the bronze age city of Akrotiri is producing extraordinary paintings, or frescoes, preserved within multi-storied buildings two-thousand years older than those of Pompeii. Similar to Pompeii, Akrotiri was preserved for immortality by the largest volcanic eruption in the last 10,000 years; a blast so large that it sank most of the island into the sea. It's global impact was chronicled by the Egyptians, the Chinese and even the writers of the Bible. But, it was Plato who wrote of the island over 1200 years after the fact giving birth to the greatest of all legends. Today Santorini is a popular tourist destination in the Aegean Sea and it remains one of the largest and most beautiful active volcanoes on earth awaiting to awaken us all.
